Health is a state of being, whereas wellness is the state of living a healthy lifestyle. Health refers to physical, mental, and social well-being; wellness aims to enhance well-being. It can affect physical, mental, and social well-being..

COMPREHENSIVE NUTRITION & LIFESTYLE

Nutrition can be defined as the process of obtaining food necessary for health and growth as well as the branch of science that deals with nutrients, particularly in humans. So, according to the definition of nutrition, food is not just supposed to be something we eat for love and pleasure.

TENNIS

Our tennis camp @Basing Hill Park provide local residents with the opportunity to immerse themselves in our Saturday tennis coaching. Through a combination of learning and practise on our mini nets we help players reach up to the next stage in their tennis development and eventually play on full courts at Childs Hill Park..

BASKETBALL

Basing Hill Park is renowned for it’s popular MUGA basketball court.

Our coach Kel, is building up a large cohort of players from different age groups.We deliver weekly training sessions,5X5 and 3X3 games on Saturday’s.

NUTRIFIT FROM THOCH

NutriFit. Nutrition and Wellness is an in-depth study of the nutrients our bodies need and how we can best provide those nutrients for optimal health and wellness. NutriFit includes instruction in nutrition, exercise and diet, healthy food choices, meal preparation, and components for a healthy lifestyle.

CYCLING & WALKING

COMMUNITY CAMPS

This is an intergenerational project geared primarily towards promoting frequent group walking and cycling amongst the over 50’s.

Our aim is to promote an annual walking and cycling community Day for all local families, reduce physical inactivity, encourage people to adopt healthy lifestyles.

SMALL CHANGES A DAY AT A TIME

Start with small changes within each dimension and take it one day at a time – you don’t have to run a marathon or go on a restrictive diet to implement wellness into your everyday life. We've listed a few examples for each dimension:

Social Connectedness

Connecting with friends or loved ones is a great way to help improve your physical and mental health. Take 10 minutes out of your day to call someone you’ve been thinking about. This is a great way to connect and catch up with the people that matter the most to you.

Exercise

Even 20 or 30 minutes of daily exercise can have a positive impact on your overall sense of well-being and help improve your mood. Don’t know where to start? Try a brisk walk on your lunch break or opt for the stairs instead of the elevator.

Nutrition

By adding wholesome ingredients to your plate, you’ll be taking steps towards becoming a healthier you. Some food for thought: pack an apple and some raw veggies in your bag to keep as a handy snack. This may help you avoid vending machines or fast food when you’re on the go.

Mindfulness

Being mindful means being aware of your thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations in your day-to-day. As one of the main dimensions of wellness, mindfulness helps promote a general sense of well-being, both physically and mentally.

HOLIDAY ACTIVITIES AND FOOD PROGRAMME (HAF)

The Holiday Activities and Food programme (HAF) is a Government funded programme to provide school-aged children on benefits related free school meals in England with access to free healthy meals and activities over the Easter, summer and Christmas holidays.

'Fill Up' is our scheme to encourage members of the public to drink more water, reduce their use of plastic and to explore local businesses, while also saving people money.

ABOUT US

The Hope of Childs Hill: A community initiative (not-for-profit organisation) incorporated to create transformational change, provide programmes, offer services and engage in other activities that promote well-being and support community development in Childs Hill.

Through the creation of partnerships, plans and facilitation of a wide range of community initiatives we aim to strengthen the local area socially, economically and culturally creating a vibrant community.

Our founders and members have worked in various industries and each senior member of the team is a practitioner in their area of specialisation.

Our staff are drawn from a variety of sectors: they have backgrounds in community engagement, law, economics, finance, technology, headhunting, journalism and finance.

Uniting them is a common set of skills – attention to detail, the ability to master a brief, and an explicit focus on what is most relevant to our local community.
